Science is the systematic study of the natural and physical world through observation, experimentation, and logical reasoning.
It is a way of asking questions about the universe and finding reliable answers. Scientists use evidence, collect data, and test ideas to explain how things work in nature.
Q. 2) What will we explore with the help of this book?
This book will help us to explore our surrounding, our planet Earth. How Earth’s atmosphere contain oxygen that supports life. How diversity of these living things exists on our Earth.
Q. 3) How do these plants and animals grow?
All living beings require food to grow. No one can survive without food. India is a large and diverse country. We have different cuisines with many tasty dishes and the dishes will vary from region to region.
Another thing that we need for survival is water. It is a precious resource which cover about two-thirds of the Earth’s surface. Water comes from rain, lake, river, melting of ice, underground.
Q. 4) How can we try to find answers to our questions on our own?
Finding answers on our own is exactly what science and learning are about.

- Make a guess (Hypothesis)
- Through Experiment and Test
- Think and Conclude

Scientists are people who follow the scientific method to solve problems or to discover new things. The person who follows the scientific method is working as a scientist. You can think like a scientist by doing, observing and analysing things.
